The Association of
Progressive Muslims of Canada is a federally incorporated non-profit
organization with its Head Office in Ottawa.
Since its inception, the
Association has actively pursued its mandate of building bridges of
understanding between Muslims and other faith groups, Federal, Provincial and Municipal governments,
security services, NGOs and various communities.
As Islam is a progressive
religion for all times and all places, the Association projects
Islam's values through various social, cultural and educational activities such as the celebration
of Eid at Parliament Hill and Queen's Park. Eid was also
celebrated for five years at the Toronto City Hall
from 2006 till 2010.
Since 2011, Iftar Dinners are being held at the Ottawa City
Canada Day is a celebration of being Canadian by recognizing the
contributions of Canadians from all faiths and backgrounds, as well as
those of organizations. Since 2016, APMC has been hosting a
Citizenship Ceremony for new Canadians. After the ceremony, about
24 new Canadians are invited to join in the celebrations and the dinner.
Since 2004, our Association is
partnering with the Federation of Chinese Canadians of Markham and
the City of Markham for the Taste of Asia Festival, the largest
Asian festival in Canada. It is held on the last weekend of
June, very close to our Canada Day Celebrations. It is open to all
and was attended by 200,000 people in 2019.
established a Scholarship Fund at Trent University
since July 2018.
Once the Association has
raised the $25,000 needed for our Scholarship, Trent University will
convert the fund into the Association of Progressive Muslims of Canada
The scholarship will be
open to domestic undergraduate students of all faiths and cultures and
will be merit based (80 percent and above).
The $25,000 or whatever
amount the fund grows to will be held in perpetuity and the
scholarship will be paid out using the interest earned on the

is open to all Muslims who are
Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents, over the age of 18, living in Canada.
