EID-UL-FITR AT PARLIAMENT HILL - FEBRUARY 3, 1999

This was the first celebration organized by the Association and the 4th one organized by Mobeen Khaja.  Mrs. Nurjehan Mawani, C.M., Chair of the Immigration & Refugee Board, was the Keynote Speaker.

EID-UL-ADHA DINNER - MARCH 29, 2000 

This 5th annual celebration was special.  The Right Hon. Jean Chretien, Prime Minister, attended briefly.  His Excellency, Dr. Mohammed R. Al-Husseini, Ambassador for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, presented a beautiful crystal model of the Holy Mosque of Mecca to the Association.  Professor Sulayman S. Nygard, Department of African Studies, Howard University, Washington, D.C., was the keynote speaker.

6TH ANNUAL EID-UL-ADHA AT DINNER - MARCH 15, 2001

The Association started giving awards at the Eid dinners as of his year. Hon. Madam Justice Louise Arbour of the Supreme Court of Canada, was  the award recipient.  She was recognized for her “Courage and Dedication to the pursuit of Justice in the International arena, especially for her work in  the establishment of a highly respected system for prosecution of war crimes”.  

The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Ahmad Ibn Saifuddin Turkistani, Professor at the Institute of Islamic and Arabic Studies in America (Fairfax,  Virginia).

7TH ANNUAL EID-UL-ADHA - FEBRUARY 27, 2002

Hon. Paul Martin, M.P., P.C., Minister of Finance, was the Guest of Honour, the Keynote Speaker as well as the  Award recipient.  A dear friend of the Muslim Community who has attended all past events as the Chief Guest, he was honoured for his “Outstanding Services to Canada as our Finance Minister”.

8TH ANNUAL EID-UL-ADHA - FEBRUARY 25, 2003

Canadian Broadcasting Corporation – CBC-Radio Canada was the recipient of the 2003 Eid-ul-Adha award.  The award was in recognition of CBC’s more than 65 years of public radio and television broadcasting service, in English and French, as well as in eight aboriginal languages in   the north, and its long-standing commitment to providing news and information programming of the highest possible standards to all  Canadians.  Mr. Robert Rabinovitch, President and CEO, received  the award on behalf of CBC.
