12TH ANNUAL EID-UL-FITR - NOVEMBER 22, 2006 On November 22, 2006, the Association honoured "THE CANADIAN JUSTICE SYSTEM FOR ITS IMPARTIALITY, FAIRNESS, OPENNESS AND INDEPENDENT JUDICIARY". Hon. Stockwell Day, Minister of Public Safety, received the award on behalf of the Prime Minister, the Right Honourable Stephen Harper. An engraved plaque and Keith Sandulak's polar bear sculpture were presented to Hon. Stockwell Day who passed them to the Prime Minister and are now displayed in the Prime Minister's office. Dr. Haroon Siddiqui, Editorial Page Editor Emeritus, Toronto Star, was the Keynote Speaker. He also signed copies of his recently published book titled "Being Muslim". |
